Texas Flag
No matter where you live in the Lone Star State you don't have to go far to find an astronomy club. The state of Texas has some of the darkest skies in the nation. People are naturally drawn to the night sky and there are plenty of clubs and groups across the state that have programs to help beginners get started. Members are always happy to answer questions. Some advantages to joining a club or society include access to their observatory site and use of their telescopes, monthly meetings to keep you on top of what's happening, magazine subscription discounts and making connections with experienced amateur astronomers.
The list below contains groups who maintain a web page. If I have omitted anyone please let me know. There are a number of groups in the state that can only be contacted via snail-mail or email. You can access the entire list at Sky & Telescope's Directory.
